Fellldyke Bunkhouse is an independent hostel set in an idyllic location against the stunning backdrop of the Western Lake District Fells.  Located right by Cogra Moss, which is between Loweswater and Ennerdale, and only 15 minutes from the Buttermere and Ennerdale Valleys, the bunkhouse is convenient for the the C-2-C cycle route and is ideally located to explore some of the quieter areas of the Lake District

Converted from an old derelict Pumphouse into a comfortable and practical group accommodation  it has taken input from many other bunkhouses to try and achieve a balance between practicality and comfort.

Set up to cater for groups of upto 23 clients, including a downstairs disabled access room with adjacent shower room, Felldyke is ideal for clubs, large family groups and groups of friends.

We have invested in the right level of equipment to allow a large number of people to be catered for easily, which includes: an 8 gas ring range cooker with 2 fan ovens; 2 x 12 place setting Dishwashers; a larder fridge and a second under the counter fridge; an under the counter freezer; and, plenty of food storage, chopping boards, large pans and sharp knives.  Hopefully this will keep your beer cold, your food hot and your fingers intact.

There is cutlery, crockery and glasses to cater for a full a friend or two.

New in Autumn 2013 is an extension.  Originally planned as a bike store, feedback from groups that have stayed lead us to make it into lounge.  It's equipped with comfortable sofas; and, for rainy days, we have television and DVD player.  There is no aerial, but you can watch films.

Heating and Hot Water

Centrally heated, double glazed and beautifully cosy, Felldyke has a modern gas boiler and a enormous hot water tank, so we're pretty sure that you'll never have to return to a cold shower after a day on the fells.

Bunk rooms

23 Bed Spaces in two bunk rooms   The upstairs accommodation for 20 is divided for privacy into smaller sections of between 4-6.  Downstairs there is separate Disabled Accessible room for 2-3 people, with an adjacent wheelchair compatible bathroom.  The Downstairs room is Ideal for Leaders and Teachers should separate accommodation from a group be required.

Bunks and mattresses that comply with the latest fire regulations for commercial properties should provide a comfortable nights sleep after a hard day on the fells.

4 Separate single occupancy shower rooms have been provided upstairs, which include a shower, sink, toilet and heated towel rail. The feel of the shower room is that of a hotel, rather than a hostel.

Downstairs the shower room complies with latest the requirements for Disabled access and includes a 1.8m x 0.8m wheelchair accessible shower tray and ancillery screens for carers to assist in bathing if required.

Adjacent to the kitchen is an open plan area that can be arranged as each group wishes.  Tables and chairs for dining / relaxing are provided.  As arranging and planning for groups can be complex, we have also installed a white board and a few pens, to leave messages, tasks or just to play games on.

Drying Room

Immediately adjacent to the front door is a drying cupboard, fitted with a dehumidifier and radiator. This has been established to allow dirty / wet clothes and footwear to be removed and begin drying  as soon as you enter the building.

Coming Soon

We've completed the extension and still plan for a solid fuel stove in it and possibly a hot tub outside........

We only book the whole Bunkhouse out to a single group, with a flat fee for the booking.  Saying this, if we have availability and you happen to be passing, you never know your luck (minimum of 6 persons at a pro-rata rate of £12 per person).  We also offer extra days for groups that wish to make a long weekend or even a week out of their stay.

Please see out terms and conditions page for details of bookings, deposits and our terms and conditions and if you like what you see, drop us an email or phone call from the details on the contacts page.
